The Conquest part 1

Joshua 11 – 15

Most of the land is conquered in these chapters as God drives out His enemies. The land is then divided among the tribes as Moses instructed.

Caleb, the other original spy who was with Joshua and trusted God, is also given land for an inheritance in Hebron.

It is incredible to read these chapters knowing how little time, in reality,  it took to conquer Canaan that first time. There can be no doubt that God is the one who conquered and let them rest for peace. The number of kings and armies that stood against Israel and fell compared to their own numbers is nothing short of miraculous.

They have not finished, God reminds Joshua as he is growing older that there are still kings needing to be driven out of Canaan and still a great portion of the inheritance left to be received. We paused in the middle of Judah’s lands of inheritance today so we get to continue following this campaign tomorrow…

Joshua does all according to what God has commanded and the Israelites success continues. We paused in the middle of Judah’s lands of inheritance today so we get to continue following this campaign tomorrow…
